Although Rob Ford already occupies numerous corners of the Internet, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel has suggested a way to make the Toronto mayor's antics go viral in a completely new way: #RobFording.
"After weeks if not months of lying dormant, crack-smoking, cheese-eating Toronto mayor Rob Ford has risen, like the mighty phoenix, and waddled back into our lives," Kimmel joked, introducing Monday's controversy, that saw a video of an apparently drunken Ford speaking in a Jamaican dialect in an Etobicoke restaurant. Kimmel aired Ford's apology, which saw the Toronto mayor referring to the incident as a "difficult bump."
"He's right, we've all had bumps," Kimmel joked. "Not everyone snorts them off a key, but still." The late-night host then aired a clip of Ford pushing through veritable mob of reporters at Toronto City Hall.
"Watching that video gave me a fun idea," Kimmel said. "Do you know what a meme is? It's something that people will do on social media. I think I've come up with a new one. It's called Rob Fording."
Kimmel then walked to his Late Night studio's back hallway, where he was — like Ford — forced to push through a teeming, shouting, camera-and-smartphone-wielding group of rabid reporters.
"It's kind of scary," Kimmel acknowledged, asking viewers to "Get a couple dozen friends together and try that at home."
So far, Rob Fording — or, as Jimmy Kimmel Live is terming it online, #RobFording — hasn't appeared to have caught on online, though CP24's breakfast crew did give it a crack.
